PAL Environmental Services has been providing ice management services
to operators off Canadas East Coast for over 20 years. Our ice management
service is based on a blend of the latest proven technology and the vast
experience of our ice management personnel.
The Problem Conducting oil exploration or production in remote areas
that are subject to seasonal ice problems can be expensive and at times
frustrating. Even short periods of waiting on weather and ice can contribute
significantly to the overall project cost.
The Technology
The Ice Data Network System (IDNS) is a fifth generation computer software package that
is designed to monitor ice, provide drift analysis and forecast future
trajectories, assess any potential threat or risks associated with each piece of
ice, and monitor and evaluate towing operations if required. The IDNS is
backed-up by a fully staffed ice operations center located in Newfoundland,
Canada. From this Ice Center, PAL ice specialists can access satellite data and
reports on ice conditions from around the world. Following a process of data
fusion and careful analysis, the PAL Ice Center produces easily understood,
near-real time reports that depict ice conditions specific to your operational
requirements.
The Experience Our ice management personnel have many
years of experience dealing with ice in the operational arena. Our ice
specialists are trained in all aspects of operational ice management. They are
qualified radar operators who know how to get the maximum performance from each
radar unit. In addition, they are certified weather observers who understand the
effects, and the balance between the ice and its surrounding environment.
The Solution PAL Environmental Services has a proven
track record in ice management. Our clients have consistently credited our ice
management service with saving days of operational downtime due to ice. So the
next time you are looking at projects in areas where ice may be an issue contact
us, and let us put our expertise to work for you.
